- Description
- Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize LLNL's patented hand-carry, quantitative thin-layer chromatography (TLC) system. The LLNL Forensic Science Center (FSC) has completed the development and field-testing of the kit, which includes unique, portable and easy to use sampling methodologies and hardware. The kit provides for rapid field screening of propellant for stabilizer content and nitro-reaction daughter products. The portable, AC power independent, kit technology is cost-effective, fast, and efficient. The kit excels over other field detection methods in the simultaneous chromatography of multiple samples and standards, extremely low detection limits, potential for quantitative analysis, and ease of operation. The technology has been used worldwide for on-site analysis at military and former military sites, industrial, and civilian situations in a variety of emergency and non-emergency scenarios where public concern is high. The technology can be routinely used for the detection of drugs, explosives, plant extracts, pesticides, counterfeit inks, plasticizers, and many other types of organic and organometallic compounds. Development of this technology was supported by the DOE. This is a licensing opportunity with some flexibility for research and development partnerships. Companies interested in commercializing the multilayer capacitors should provide a written statement of interest that must include the following information: (1) company name and address, (2) the name, address, telephone number, and fax number of a point of contact, (3) a description of your company's expertise and facilities in the relevant technologies and (4) statement of your company's potential interest in research partnering. This is not a procurement. Statements of interest should be sent to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization Office, P.O. Box 808, L-795, Livermore, CA 94551 Attention: CBD-01-005. Please provide your written statement within thirty (30) days from the date this announcement is printed to ensure consideration of your response.
