Description

The U.S. Army Soldier and Biochemical Command intends to award a purchase order to the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Center for Advanced Materials, 1 University Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854 on a basis of other than full and open competition [reference FAR Subpart 6.302-1 (b)] to analyze the morphology, crystal structure and chemical composition of ceramic materials. Analysis methods are to include energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, electron diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Work will also include transmission electron microscopy analyses on ceramic materials produced via biomimetic mineralization. The University of Massachusetts has been contributing to this research program since 1997, and the current work relies strongly on past results. New results will be integrated with the database of results that have been compiled so far. No quotation document is available.
