Description

NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Velocity Laser System. SPECIFICATIONS: The 6324 P/FC VELOCITY LASER SYSTEM COVERS A SPECTRAL RANGE FROM 1270-1340NM. It also have the following additional specifications: 1) CONTINUOUS POWER WAVE RANGE OF 5-8MW FACILITATING GOOD SNR(SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO) 2) PROVIDES MODE HOPE FREE TUNNING OVER ENTIRE RANGE, 3) FREQUENCY MODULATION UP TO 1MHZ FOR DETECTING WEAK BRAGG GRATINGS, 4) WAVELENGTH REPEATABILITY UPTO 0.1NM 5)PROVIDES A FIBER PIGTAIL (3 METERS LONG) WHICH ENABLES A_ CONVENIENT SPLICE FROM THE FIBER TO LASER OUTPUT. 6) PROVIDE COMPLETE CONTROL THROUGH GPIB INTERFACES WHICH IS USEFUL FOR PRACTICAL APPLICATION FOR BRAGG GRATINGS. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from New Focus, Inc. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 15 days after posting, 4:30 p.m. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
