Description
The following commercial product description is for bulk quantities (55 gallon drum, etc.) of synthetic cutting/grinding fluid for use with ferrous metals: General Characteristics: The product must be cutting and grinding fluid, or an equivalent product possessing the following salient features: (a) fluid must be a synthetic liquid suitable for cutting, grinding, broaching, drilling, lapping, honing, and threading of ferrous metals including stainless steels and alloys, (b) fluid must be low foaming in all water conditions, (c) fluid must be a concentrated product designed for dilution with hard or soft water, (d) the manufacturer's recommended dilution level for grinding applications should be between 2% and 6% concentrate (94% to 98% water), but must be no more greater than 7% concentrate, (e) the manufacturer's recommended dilution level for machining applications should be between 4% to 10% concentrate (90% to 96% water), (f) the manufacturer's recommended dilution level for heavy machining applications must be no greater than 14% concentrate (86% water), (g) diluted product must effectively reject tramp oils to surface for removal by skimming, (h) diluted product must be suitable for use in central recycling systems or individual sumps, (j) diluted product must effectively inhibit microbial growth (both fungus and bacteria) fore periods of one year when properly maintained in accordance with (IAW) manufacturer's usage instructions, (k) diluted product must prevent bimetallic (galvanic) corrosion, and be suitable for use in recycling and/or individual sump systems containing steel, aluminum, brass, copper, bronze, PVC, CPVC, and/or other plastic components, (l) diluted product must be transparent, (m) product must be biodegradable and (n) product must have low or no order. A product which currently meets our requirements is CASTROL SIN-TYLO 9954 High Performance. This requirements type contract will be for one (1) base year and four (4) option years. This contract will have a required delivery schedule of 6 drums per month. This solicitation is unrestricted. North American Industrial Classification System is . Size standard is 500 employees. This solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.501, 5.102(a)(7) and 14.205-1(c), therefore hardcopies will not be provided. Estimated issued date is 30 March 2001. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. Because of this, the Government is under no obligation and is in fact unable to maintain a bidders mailing list. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above internet address in order to obtain any amendments which may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for bid opening/receipt of proposals may render your bid or proposal nonresponsive and result in the rejections of same. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered.
