Description

The United States Coast Guard, Civil Engineering Unit Juneau intends to award a sole source purchase order contract to Mechron, Inc. of Ontario, Canada for the commercial item acquisition of Mechron Model CCRBS48/115/D1800 diesel generator system under FAR Part 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The vendor must be capable of providing the generator, software, hut, shipping, installation, testing, maintaining a compliment of spare parts, and trained maintenance personnel capable of taking immediate corrective action if the system should fail for a period of one year. Substantially similar Mechron generators have been installed as part of the National Distress System and this generator will be an integral part of that system. The reasons necessitating procurement of this particular generator system are to ensure compatibility with the existing National Distress System and ensure ease of maintenance, and to maintain uniformity of spare parts inventory, training, operation and maintenance manuals. This generator system must be fully compatible, including components and software, with the existing Mechron generator and remote control and monitoring systems. The generator will be located at a remote site on Kodiak Island, Alaska in the Gulf of Alaska. The anticipated award date is May 15, 2001. This notice is neither a request for proposal nor a solicitation of offers. A determination not to compete this proposed procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
