Small business plays an essential role in helping the Corps accomplish its mission, last year accounting for approximately $2.6 billion in direct contracts to Small Business alone. The sponsor of this conference, the Corps' North Atlantic Division comprises six districts (based in Concord, Mass., New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Norfolk, and Wiesbaden, Germany). The division, which issued contracts exceeding $900 million in fiscal year 2000, provides design, military construction, and water resource development services. Additional responsibilities include disaster response and environmental restoration. The division's assigned boundaries include the northeastern United States, Greenland and Europe. This conference will allow for direct discussions, counseling and assistance with the Deputies for Small Business, Chiefs of Contracting, and District Commanders within NAD.
