Description

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has a requirement to start a Metropolitan Capacity Building Program (MCB). This initiative will consist of information on all aspects of the metropolitan planning process. The services will consist of research of specific topic areas relevant to transportation professionals at varying levels, forums for discussion of the implementation of the TEA-21 requirements, and presentation/training of materials to State, inter-regional associations and metropolitan planning organizations. The FHWA intends to issue a Purchase Order to the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations(AMPO). The AMPO is the only national level organization that represents such a large percentage of the Metropolitan Planning Organizations in the country, as well as partnerships with State Departments of Transportation, transit operators, FHWA, and many others. They currently have an extensive communication network system in place that will enable them to easily research the specific topics as well as interact with their members and partners. This network is essential to the success of this program. Because of the reasons stated above, AMPO is considered the only known source who can supply these services in a timely and cost-effective manner. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about May 2, 2001.
