- Description
- The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is = seeking technical solutions from companies that currently provide = project management services via the Internet in the commercial = marketplace to provide project management services for WMATA users to = include consultants and contractors. This solicitation is for = internet-based project management and collaboration services to manage = Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Agency (WMATA) capital projects. = This service will provide all project stake-holders up-to-date = information, disciplined processes for monitoring progress, changes, = and documentation and senior management access to project status = reports. The selected product will have the following major = characteristics: 1. Web-based application service provider model. = Application Service Provider (ASP) will deploy, host and manage access = to the selected product from a centrally managed facility with minimal = resources required from WMATA information technology staff. ASP will = be responsible for all hardware and software maintenance and upgrades. = 2. Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software. Product selected will be = usable at WMATA with no, or minimal customization. For the purposes of = this contract "commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software" shall mean = that it is of a type commonly used for non-government uses and has been = sold, leased or licensed to the general public. 3. Built on = relational database. WMATA standard is Oracle. 4. Solid = infrastructure. 24 hours/7 day availability with a defined window for = maintenance. High speed Internet connections, reliable, secure, = redundant hardware environment. 5. Usable over a minimum 56k modem = connection or higher speed connection. 6. Effective project = management tools. Project management tools will provide immediate = project status indicators for senior managers, effective day-to-day = tools for project managers and good overall reporting capabilities. = Usable during all stages of a project's life from planning through = design and construction. 7. Effective project office management = tools. Document controls, work-flow processing for request for = information and other construction documents. Work-queue management = for project participants. 8. Effective communication/collaboration = tools that facilitates and documents communication between project = participants. 9. Effective document management tools. Allows users = to upload, download, review, search, track and organize documents. 10. = Easy to use and administer with minimal intervention required from = ASP. 11.
