- Description
- The work to be performed under this solicitation consists of manufacturing wicket gates for hydro turbines at the Hoover Dam Powerplant. The base schedule for the contract will be for manufacturing twenty-four (24) wicket gates for hydro turbine unit N1. The option schedule 1 will be for manufacturing an additional twenty-four (24) wicket gates for hydro turbine unit N2 the following year. An optional line item for a new hydraulic profile design of the wicket gates to improve turbine efficiency will also be included. The new design shall be based on our current runner design. The Contractor's inclusion of a proposal for this optional item is not required and will not increase the Contractor's potential for contract award. The Government will evaluate offers and award a contract under either the design specified in the Statement of Work or exercise the line item option for the new hydraulic profile design, but not both. The wicket gate has an average diameter of 8 inches along the shaft, is 33-7/8 inches wide at the guide case, and has a total length of 73-5/8 inches. Each wicket gate, as built per blueprint, weighs approximately 1,495 pounds. The wicket gates shall be manufactured in accordance with original blueprints with the exception of: (1) material upgrade to CA-6NM, SST; (2) the Contractor has the option of providing a solid or an open cast wicket gate; (3) keyways in the top of the wicket gate shafts are not required; and (4) final dimension for the guide case height will be provided by the Government to the Contractor after final curb to crown distance is determined. The wicket gates will not be installed under this contract. The gates shall be delivered f.o.b. destination to the Hoover Dam Central Warehouse. This solicitation is unrestricted (that is, full and open competition). For this acquisition, the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 333611 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. This acquisition will be pursued in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. We will issue a Request for Quotes (RFQ) in the form of a solicitation which will include a description of the work requirements, instructions to offerors, and required certifications. We estimate that we will issue the solicitation on or about May 1, 2001. Currently, we anticipate that the due date for quotes will be May 25, 2001, but an official date will be specified in the solicitation. You may place an order for the solicitation before it is issued, but no documents will be available until the solicitation is issued. There is no charge for one hard copy of the solicitation. You will receive a complete solicitation with the statement of work and drawings. The drawings will not be available online.
