- Description
- Disaster Recovery Storage and Handling Requirement Sources sought for, disaster recovery offsite storage, in the Austin, Texas area, with daily pickup and delivery. As a guideline, the offsite storage facility should be located at a minimum of 15 miles from the facility. Transportation to and from facilities will be via environmentally-controlled vehicle(s). The facility shall be constructed with non-combustible materials and building elements, including roof, walls, columns, and floors. The facility shall be designed or certified by a licensed fire protection engineer to avoid catastrophic failure of the structure due to an uncontrolled fire. The building shall be located a minimum of five feet above and 100 feet from any 100 year flood plain area, or be protected by an appropriate flood wall. The facility shall be designed in accordance with regional building codes to provide protection from building collapse or failure of essential equipment from earthquake hazards, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other potential natural disasters. Engineering staff will use National Archives and Records Administration Regulations: 36 CPR Part 1228 subparts K and I design criteria to evaluate the offsite storage facility for suitability to store disaster recovery materials. The storage facility must also comply with all applicable requirements of the most recent issue of IRS Publication 1075. Even if the facility is a single-story building and local building codes do not require fire detection/suppression, the facility shall have fire detection/suppression to protect the disaster recovery materials.
