See Numbered Note 22 A 12-month firm-fixed price contract, with two twelve-month option periods, on a non-competitive basis, is proposed with VG Semicon, to provide maintenance of the NVESD Microfactory which consists of four ultra high vacuum chambers that are connected by a twenty-six foot long vacuum-transfer tube used to shuttle semiconductor wafers into these chambers for deposition of various epilayers by molecular beam epitaxy. Components include sixteen thermal effusion cells, an e-beam evaporator, residual gas analyzers, and surface diagnostic apparatus. Electronic control of the vacuum pumps, analyzers, and processes is maintained by seven racks of electronic equipment. (The government in 1988 purchased this system from VG Semicon.) This procurement consists of all labor and parts needed to maintain and repair all modules and assemblies of this system. This service shall include routine maintenance as well as emergency visits to restore the system to operation.
