Description

Rental of a tractor/trailer to transport a Forest Service D6H Dozer, weight of 43,000 lbs. to be used on fires and project work. Forest Service will provide a licenced driver and fuel. Contractor to provide regular maintenance and all mechanical repairs. The quote request will be a monthly charge plus mileage. Tractor/trailer will be a tilt trailer and will be located at the Oak Knoll Work Center, Klamath River, California. Equipment may be dispatched anywhere throught the U.S. Tractor/trailer specifications: 350 Net diesel horse power minimum; jake type engine brake or equivalent; sliding fifth wheel; dual drive with lock-out rear ends; age of vehicles not to ecceed 20 years. Fifth wheel gooseneck tilt bed trailer specifications: 24 foot minimum deck length; 30 foot maximum deck length; 4 foot minimum upper deck length; 8 foot minimum deck width; 2 foot minimum stationary deck length; 4 foot maximum stationary deck length. Hydraulic cylinder to control the tilting bed. A wood or steel deck is acceptable. Deck shall have all wood or steel in place. Tractor/trailer shall have valid State, local licenses, and permits. Contract time approx. 150 days. Date for receipt of quotes has not been established, but is estimated to be in early June, 2001.
