Description
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is seeking information from any commercial sources capable of providing, in whole or in part, the rebuild or replacement of its current inventory of 198 Ingersol-Rand Model 250-WDM-H268 Air Compressors over a five-year period commencing during FY02. The required product characteristics include: Inclusion of a standard commercial warranty, with options for extension to 60 months; Dimensional footprint no greater than the current Compressor: length 200"; width 96"; height 78"; weight 7,300 lbs; Sufficient diesel/JP-5/8 fuel capacity to provide 10 hours of continuous operation (8 work hours and two standby hours); Compatibility with existing plumbing, trailer mounting, and pneumatic tools; Integral tool containers to ensure safe transport and storage of ancillary equipment and tools; Capable of being transported to and operated in environmental extremes and over rough terrain. (Note: The two previous product capabilities apply if your proposal includes replacing the trailer.) The highly desirable product improvements include: Technology insertion to improve the capability, ease of use and reliability of controls and displays, engine, and compressor subsystems while maintaining existing interfaces with current pneumatic tools; Rebuild/refurbishment of the current trailer subsystem wear items; chassis, wheels, axles, wheel bearings, and brakes; Established dealership network that can facilitate the pickup/delivery between Marine Corps operating sites and the dealer/work locations; Demonstrated engineering and analytical capabilities that establish that the proposed rebuild process will return the Compressors and trailer to an "as-built" condition and extending the useful life of the system for 8-10 years; Established worldwide customer service capabilities that include Pacific Rim locations such as Hawaii and Japan; Demonstrated performance test results and analytical data supporting the off-road and highway operating capability of the trailer including but not limited to stability, reliability, availability, maintainability, and durability, of the compressor and trailer unit. (Note the previous desired improvement only applies if your proposal includes replacement of the existing trailer.) Firms possessing the capabilities to accomplish this requirement are invited to submit a statement of qualification, enclose product literature, past performance information, current GSA or other schedule information (if applicable) and price schedules/catalogues. Responses to this RFI should be received no later than May 24, 2001. Submissions are for market research and all materials will be retained in confidence. Product information shall be submitted to Commander, Marine Corps System Command, ATTN: Ms. Gabrielle Trickett, CTQ3GT, 2033 Barnett Ave., Suite 315, Quantico, VA. 22134-5010.
