Description

The Fleet & Industrial Supply Center Puget Sound has a requirement for 6100 gallons of Epon Resin 828 manufactured by Resolution Performance Products. The resin must be delivered to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA no later than 04 Aug 2001. This acquisition will be acquired on a sole source basis through the J.F. Shelton Company, Kent, WA., the only authorized distributor of the Epon Resin 828 in the state of Washington. The NAVSEA ordnance data requires that the product can not come from a location more than 4 hours away, if the ambient temperature is greater than 60 degrees fahrenheit. The resin will be mixed with a hardener, Jeffamine T-403 (manufactured by the Huntsman Corporation), to form a grout material which will be used by the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in support of the D5 backfit on the USS Nevada. The combination of the Epon Resin 828 with the Jeffamine T-403 hardener has undergone extensive testing by the Government to ensure it can meet the stringent tensile, compressive, adhesive shear, and environmental requirements of the U.S. Navy. No other combination of products will be acceptable. The contractor will be required to pick up, fill, and deliver the epoxy resin in Government furnished storage containers. The distributor may also be required to perform minor service work involving maintenance, cleaning, and disposal of residual chemicals contained within the Government furnished storage containers. This acquisition will be solicited utilizing the procedures of FAR Part 12, Commercial Acquisition. It is anticipated that the RFQ will be issued on or about 03 May 2001, with quotes due by 15 May 2001. No telephone requests for the solicitation package will be accepted. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Note 22 applies.
