- Description
- The General Services Administration (GSA) hereby notifies of the intent to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) in a negotiated procurement for the Building Demolitions, Renovations, and Hazardous Material Abatement for the FDA Consolidation Project, Montgomery County Campus in White Oak, Silver Spring, MD. This will be the first step in development of a consolidated campus for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Approximately 60 existing building/structures, with associated appurtenances, roadways, parking areas, underground tunnels, utilities, and miscellaneous site features, must be demolished to facilitate construction of new infrastructure and buildings that will comprise the proposed campus. The majority of the existing buildings to be razed contain hazardous materials, such as asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), lead-based paint, and/or mercury vapor light tubes, which must be abated and removed from site as needed prior to disturbance of the structures themselves. Earth material currently stockpiled on site will be used to backfill voids created by demolition activities and to allow grading in order to achieve positive drainage across the disturbed areas. The Government encourages salvage, recycling, reclamation of materials, and debris management. This procurement is scheduled to be awarded in July 2001.
