Description

The Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled (Committee) is pursuing partnerships with U.S. commercial manufacturers of pre-measured water soluble packets of various cleaning powders which meet the following criteria: 1) Possession of a nationally known brand name that can be demonstrated to have significant appeal through evidence of substantial sales. 2) Willingness to enter into a multi-year agreement, which includes technical assistance, to have a nonprofit agency that meets the criteria of the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Program to assemble and/or package the products in questions thereby creating employment for people who are blind or severely disabled. 3)Commitment to working imdependently with the JWOD team to market the products to Government customers under the JWOD Program. 4) Willingness to work with the nonprofit agency, NIB or NISH and the Committee to ensure that the products' price to end-users is a fair and reasonable price. 5) Manufacturers' submissions must demonstrate that the specific products meet the various criteria, as well as indicate what functions the nonprofit agency's employees would perform. 6) All ingredients for the cleaning liquid must be on the Generally Reognized As Safe (GRAS) list as compiled by the FDA. The deadline for response is May 30, 2001.
