- Description
- The contractor shall develop, process and perform physical property measurements for no less tha ten candidate rubber formulations for each of the four areas of research interest: tracked vehicle bushings, tank pads, backing rubber and roadwheel applications. The contractor shall investigate the choice of polymer, blends of polymers, filler types and levels, vaulcanization systems to optimize the type and number of cross-links and the use and optimization of antidegradants to provide rubber compounds with enhanced thermal stability. The contractor shall have knowledge of the material development effors for track pads by ARL and associated ARL patens for the improved performance tank pads compounds based on HNBR. The contractor must be able to discuss, develop and recommend formulations to improve the service life for all the elastomeric components of military track systems to include the T-158, T-158LL for the M1A1/A2 and T-157 for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. It is the intent of the Government to award a contract on a sole source basis to Canadian Rubber Testing & Development Ltd pusuant to FAR 6.302-1. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within fifteen (15) days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determinin whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Quotes may be faxed to (410) 278-6972.
