Description

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) intends to award a contract, utilizing FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and FAR Part 15 (Contracting By Negotiation), to procure school bus service for the transportation of dependent children residing on Parris Island, the Marine Corps Air Station, and the U. S. Naval Hospital to the Laurel Bay Schools located Beaufort, South Carolina. DoDEA is a Department of Defense field activity under the direction, authority and control of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Personnel Support, Families, and Education. DoDEA exists to provide for the education needs of eligible Department of Defense military and civilian dependents in grades kindergarten through 12 at sites both in the United States and overseas. The contractor shall provide all necessary equipment, operations, general administration, dispatch and control, and driver training and screening to insure safe and timely transportation of DoDEA students. The contractor is required to follow all Federal, State (South Carolina), and military installation laws and regualtions regarding pupil transportation. The projected need for these services and the specific route information will be provided in the solicitation. NOTE: All contractor driver personnel assigned to this contract shall have a background check investigation, to include a Criminal History Background Check, in accordance with DOD Instruction 1402.5, Enclosure 6. The proposed contract will be firm-fixed priced, with a base year plus two option years. Request for this solicitation must be in writing, via email, letter or fax. Telephonic requests will not be accepted or honored. Requests shall include the business's name, address, authorized contact person, telephone/fax number(s), and business size. The solicitation will be issued on or about 18 May 2001 and is anticipated to close on 8 June 2001. This procurement is unrestricted. The NAICS code is 485410.
