Description
NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for: DESCRIPTION (Kaman Extreme Instrumentation): Item 1 -- QTY: 8 -- Extreme Sensor 1925-NM-FL-.090 Cable, 3ft Hard Cable With Disconnect, 15ft Soft Cable, 5/16-24 Threaded Case 1" Long, Calibration to Inconel 718 Target, Range: 50Mils, Offset: 5Mils, Output: 0-2 Voc Item No. 2 -- QTY: 8 -- KDM8000 1925-NM, Setup and calibrated with Item No. 1 as One Master and 8 Slaves Item No. 3 -- QTY: 1 -- Extreme Subrack KDM8000, No Display Meter, Wired for 8 Channels, Setup and Calibrated with Items 1 and 2 Item No. 4 -- QTY: 2 -- Spare Sensors 3ft hard Cable with disconnect, 15ft Soft Cable, 5/16-24 Threaded Case 1' Long, Calibration to Inconel 718 Target Range: 50Mils, Offset: 5Mils, Output: 0-2 Voc Item No. 5 -- QTY: 2 -- Spare Conditioners, Setup and Calibrated with Item 4 as One Master and One Slave This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from KAMAN INSTRUMENTATION. The sensors will be mounted in a 1200 Degree F environment co-located to a magnetic bearing and will be used to monitor high speed rotating shaft. Sensor will be used in a feedback control loop for the magnetic bearing. A market research was conducted and it has been determined that KAMAN has the sensor system that best meets NASA's application requirements. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. AUTHORITY FOR OTHER THAN FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION IS U.S.C 2304(d)(1)(B) Organizations that believe they are capable of performing the described work may submit their capabilities and qualifications IN WRITING to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 14, 2001. Such submittals will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. THIS IS NOT A COMPETITIVE ANNOUNCEMENT -- IT IS A SOLE SOURCE ANNOUNCEMENT, PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST A COPY OF THE SOLICITATION -- NO COMPETITIVE SOLICITATION WILL BE ISSUED AS A RESULT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. If the Government decides that this work will be competed, a competitive announcement and accompany solicitation will be issued at that time. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
