Description

R-The U.S. Dept. of Commerce/NOAA/NOS Center For Sponsored Coastal Ocean Research intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Dr. Ford A. Cross to develop, organize and present a workshop on the topic of "Marine Science Synthesis and Reassessment". The objective of the workshop is to establish a program whereby scientists and managers are provided the opportunity to synthesize existing marine science information and to reassess existing paradigms relative to the function of the coastal ocean. There is a need to integrate the vast amount of information collected and analyzed to date in order to reassess our understanding of how the coastal ocean functions. This need to develop a comprehensive synthesis program relative to the functioning of the coastal ocean is exacerbated by the relatively high growth rate of human populations along the world's coasts as opposed to inland areas. The Contractor will be responsible for the management, planning and execution of the workshop and for providing CSCOR with recommendations for the funding of projects, based on the workshop. A report will be submitted to CSCOR by the Contractor withing 30 days after the workshop that will serve as the basis for possible Announcements of Funding Opportunity. This is a notice of intent with no solicitation package available. Award will be made using simplified acquisition procedures.(Reference No. 01-00019)
