Description
The Broadcasting Board of Governors, International Broadcasting Bureau (BBG/IBB), Office of Contracts, Simplified Acquisitions Branch, (M/CON) intends to solicit, negotiate, and award a Purchase Order (contract) on a non-competitive basis using Simplified Acquisition Procedures (FAR Part 13) to THOMCAST AG in Switzerland for the purchase of Power Tube CQK 50-2, Quantity: 1. The above part is needed as a spare replacement for IBB's shortwave transmitters. THOMCAST AG is the manufacturer of the above equipment and it is not available from another source. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition that is applicable to this procurement is FAR Subpart 6.302-1 (a) (2), 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1), which states: When the supplies or services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, full and open competition need not be provided for. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive price quotations. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. All such price quotations must be received by the Government by 5 PM EST, Friday, May 8, 2001 to be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order (contract) based upon responses to this Notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any information received from interested firms/persons responding to this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This Notice is not a RFP, IFB, or RFQ.
