Description

Naval Surface Warfare Center,Carderock Division, Philadelphia, PA intends to procure one (1) Caterpillar 300 KVA, 480 volt, battery free UPS system on a Caterpillar 250 KW diesel generator set with transfer switch. The system will be comprised of: a) 300 kVA battery free Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS); b) 250 kW diesel genetator set and c) a transfer switch and other needed equipment for system wide communication and coordinated for continuous power. The Flywheel/Diesel Generator (Fw/DG) will be used in conjunction with an array of electrical equipment and load banks for a Ride-through and Recovery demonstration. Ride-through and recovery concepts such as stored energy and zonal applications will be demonstrated. The Fw/DG will be used to demonstrate flywheel technology in combination with a quickstart diesel generator for use in electric start for an LM-2500 Gas Turbine Generator equivalent load as well as supply power for coast down and pre-start auxiliary loads.
