- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to issue an order on a sole source basis with Integrated Manufacturing Technology Initiative (IMTI) a non-profit organization, P. O. Box 5296, Oak Ridge, TN as a commercial service using the simplified procedures authorized by FAR Subpart 13.5. The purpose of this requirement is to develop a comprehensive roadmap for analysis of construction industry technologies, processes, practices, and associated standards with particular emphasis on defining requirements that support areas such as: 1) seamless integration of information flow throughout entire project life cycle; 2) integration of leading-edge technologies in the areas of CAD and CAE, field sensing and tracking, modularization, pre-construction, field automation, and construction automation for cradle-to-grave management and execution of capital facilities construction projects; 3) reduction of design changes and rework and 4) rapid detection and correction of differences between in-process and as-built construction. The period of performance is for six months. FOB Destination Gaithersburg, MD. No solicitation package will be issued. IMTI is the only possible source to provide this service because the work requires the use of IMTI's copyrighted database Manufacturing Analyst for Science and Technology (MAST), that maps federal manufacturing technology investments to the needs of industry. The anticipated award date of the order is on or around May 14, 2001.
