Description
On 3 January 2001, the Technology Applications Program Office placed a sources sought announcement in the Commerce Business Daily for the development and procurement of a hardware suite for the Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) upgrade. As a result, those firms who identified themselves to the Government were provided the opportunity to present their recommended CAAS suite to assist the Government in better defining their draft specifications for the CAAS hardware suite components. The six components are 1) Multi-function display; 2) Control Display Unit; 3) Mission Processor; 4) Video Concentrator; 5) Data Concentrator; and 6) Cursor Control Device. Those firms who have made presentations will automatically be provided a copy of the Government's draft specifications, unless the firm notifies the Contracting Office that they no longer wish to participate in this requirement. Those firms/teams wishing to obtain a copy of these draft specifications may contact (e-mail preferred) the contracting office. Only those firms who can provide a complete hardware suite are requested to participate. To complete the Government's performance specifications, we are sponsoring an Industry Day on 17 May 2001, 1300-1600 hours, at the Ft. Eustis Transportation Museum Conference Room. Any comments/concernss/questions to be presented during the 17 May meeting shall be provided to the Contracting Office no later than COB, 15 May 2001, in addition to identifying representatives who will be attending from each firm. Any additional issues may be addressed during Industry Day or they may be sent to the Contracting office by 1600 hours, 21 May 2001, for appropriate action. The CAAS hardware suite will be installed in the MH-47, MH-60 and A/MH-6 Special Operations Aircraft; however, the CH-47 Improved Cargo Helicopter and the UH-60M aircraft may also participate. The total estimated quantity will remain at 1800 each. Anticipate the competitive solicitation will be issued in June 2001, contract award in January 2002, with first delivery in January 2003.
