Description

NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the purchase of a displacement measuring interferometer system. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase a displacement measuring interferometer system and related items from Zygo Corporation, Laurel Brook Road, PO Box 448, Middlefield, CT 06455-0448. Zygo Corporation is the sole provider of the ZMI 2000 Laser Interferometer System, which maintains the ability for making linear displacement measurements below two nano meters and double the sub arc second angular resolution of 0.044 arc seconds to 0.022 arc seconds. The ZMI 2000 laser interferometer system from Zygo Corporation is compatible with existing optical hardware and will interface with ease. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 21, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
