- Announcement of NCHRP Research Allocations for FY 2002 The Research Committee for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials met in Washington, D.C., on March 27-29, 2001 and selected the following new projects for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program in fiscal year 2002: 03-64, Highway Capacity Manual: Applications Handbook; 03-65, Modern Roundabout Safety and Operations: U.S. and European/Australian Experience; 04-30, Improved Testing Methods for Determination of Critical Shape/Texture Factors for Aggregates; 08-42, Freight Movement by Rail-Impacts and Opportunities; 08-43, Methods for Forecasting Statewide Freight Movements and Related Performance Measures; 08-44, Incorporating Safety into Long-Range Transportation Plans; 09-33, Superpave Mix Analysis Method, Software, and Manual; 09-34, Improved Test Procedure for Determining the Moisture Damage Susceptibility of Bituminous Pavements; 10-61, Highway Construction Project Procurement-Alternatives to the Low-Bid System; 12-60, Transfer and Development Length of Prestressing Strand and Development and Splice Length of Reinforcement in High-Strength Concrete; 17-23; Safety Profile and Other Implications of Changed Speed Limits on High-Speed Roads; 17-24, Use of Event Data Recorder (EDR) Technology for Highway Crash Data Analysis; 18-11, Relationship of "Processing Additions" in Cement Manufacturing to Concrete Durability; 19-04, GASB 34 Impacts on State DOT Infrastructure Asset Management and Finance-Short-Term and Long-Term Research Projects; 20-50(16), LTPP Data Analysis: The Impact of Design Features on Pavement Responses for New Flexible and Rigid Pavements; 20-56, Recommendations for AASHTO World Wide Web Site; 20-57, Analytic Tools Supporting Transportation Asset Management; 22-19, Aesthetic Design for Concrete Safety Barriers; 24-20, Prediction of Scour at Bridge Abutments. Project Statements inviting proposals will be available at the same Internet site beginning around August 2001.
