Description
The contractor will provide all material, labor, services, equipment, licenses, taxes, and other items necessary for the Replacement of a New Addressable Fire Alarm System for the James A. Farley Building. Building consists of a basement and five stories, with a total area of 1.4 million sf. System shall consist of four (4) addressable sub-panels per floor with interconnecting (Class A) alarm and communication cables. New York City fire alarm code shall apply to the project. Some parts of the project area are of a historic nature and shall be provided according to the historic preservation requirements. Staging/Phasing of the project is mandatory. Scope of Work includes, but not limited to the demolition of the existing fire alarm: remove and replace any equipment as shown, provide temporary fire alarm during construction, install new fire command, sprinkler components, associated conduits/wiring, raceway, panels, devices, fire extinguishers, switches and other items as shown on drawings. Work also includes Asbestos and Lead Abatement. Contractors must meet the following qualifications to be considered for award of the contract. Contractor Qualifications: 1) Shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience in installing addressable fire alarm systems, ten (10) years overall experience in Fire Alarm Systems; 2) Shall provide a list of five (5) most recent comparable projects ($500,000. minimum) which are 100% complete (installed and operational) as well as any current projects. Project listing shall include name and location, project size, quantities and ratings, client references (name, title, address, phone, email address), description (brief narrative of the project) and contract values (initial and final). Proposals from qualified contractors will be evaluated based on price and submitted schedule of construction. Bid proposal guarantee of 20% must accompany bid proposals. Attendance at pre-proposal meeting is mandatory in order to submit a proposal. Pre-proposal meeting will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2001 at the James A. Farley Building, 380 West 33rd Street (Room 5509), New York, New York. Solicitation packages will be available on or about May 16, 2001. Solicitation packages may be obtained from USPS-New York Facilities Service Office, 2 Hudson Place-5th Floor, Hoboken, NJ 07030-5502, Contact Person: Lori E. Requests for solicitation packages must be accompanied by $125.00 company check or USPS money order made payable to Disbursing Officer, USPS. Payments for solicitation packages are NON-REFUNDABLE (unless solicitation is cancelled). Sealed offers will be received by the U.S. Postal Service, NY Facilities Service Office, 2 Hudson Place -- 5th Floor, Hoboken, NJ 07030-5502, prior to but no later than June 14, 2001 (for overnight delivery we recommend using Express Mail). It is prohibited to pay any fee, commission, percentage or brokerage fee to any person or firm contingent upon or resulting from the award of a contract for this project. PERSONAL VISITS AND PHONE CALLS for the purpose of discussing this project are not permitted. Offers will not be publicly opened. The number of offers received, the identity of offers received, the amount of any offer or relative standing of the offers will not be disclosed to ANYONE until time of contract award. Award will be made in accordance with Section M of the solicitation.
