Description

NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Detector Assembly for Antiproton Trap. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Saint-Gobain Crystals & Detectors, 12345 Kinsman Road, Newbury, OH 44065. This is the only known source that could assemble detectors with the following size and geometry specifications: Line Item: 1 Qty: 4 Unit: Ea Detector Assembly Consisting Of: Bc-408 Plastic Scintillator, 5" Wide X 10 Mm Thick With Approximate Total Length Of 66" Bent In U-Shape With 8" Straight Length At Each End And A 180 Degree Bend With 32" Inside Diameter. Bc-800 Uvt Adiabatic Light Guide And Eti 9266pmt With Mu-Metal Light Shield Mounted To One End Of Scintillator; Entire Assembly Wrapped In Reflective Foil And Light-Tight Black Metal. Line Item: 2 Qty: 4 Unit: Ea Detector Assembly Consisting Of: Bc-408 Plastic Scintillator, 24" Long By 6" Wide X 5 Mm Thick; Bc-800 Uvt Adiabatic Light Guide And Eti 9266 Pmt With Mu-Metal Light Shield Mounting To One End Of Scintillator; Entire Assembly Wrapped In Reflective Foil And Light-Tight Black Material. Line Item: 3 Qty: 3 Unit: Ea Detector Assembly Consisting Of: Bc-408 Plastic Scintillator, 18" Long By 6" Wide X 5 Mm Thick; Bc-800 Uvt Adiabatic Light Guide And Eti 9266 Ptm With Mu-Metal Light Shield Mounted To One End Of Scintillator; Entire Assembly Wrapped In Reflective Foil And Light -Tight Black Material. Line Item: 4 Qty: 11 Unit: Ea Model P-14 Plug-On Voltage Divider Assembly. Part Number A-3305-02; For Use With Item 1, 2 And 3. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 24, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
