Description

The Federal Highway Administration plans to negotiate with the University of Montana to perform research on the distribution and movement of Grizzly Bears in relation to highway presence, design, and use. Dr. Servheen of the National Grizzly Bear Recovery Team which is functions cooperatively with the University of Montana Research Program has performed extensive research on the ecology of mountain ecosystems and grizzly bears. He has extensive and unique experience and resources with which to complete the proposed research project. He has developed a one of a kind application for mapping ecological linkages and habitat types in mountain ecosystems. Because Dr. Servheen, the University of Montana and the Grizzly Bear Recovery Team have unique knowledge and experience required to complete the desired work, no other source is considered reasonably available.
