Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement to repair a Bede Model QC2a x-ray diffractometer purchased in 1991. The contractor must be prepared to replace the x-ray tube, a Kevex PXS4-612CU. In the absence of other qualified sources, it is the intent of the Government to negotiate a sole source contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Bede Scientific, 14 Inverness Drive, East, Englewood, CO 80112 as this source is considered to be the only responsible source and no other source will satisfy agency requirements. Bede Scientific has an exclusive contract with Kevex for the purchase of the Kevex PXS4-612CU x-ray tube. The presenting problem for this repair work is that the system will no longer generate x-rays following a power anomaly that required replacement of the 12V internal power supply. Contractor shall have demonstrated experience repairing QC2 diffractometers. Contractor shall make an initial site visit for evaluation within seven business days and complete repairs up to the installation of a new tube within fifteen business days after award. Responses are due via mail or FAX by May 24, 2001. No RFQ package is available. This procurement is being conducted per Simplified Acquisition Procedures FAR Part 13 (NTE $100,000).
