Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, plans to issue a solicitation for lodging and transportation for National Weather Service (NWS) students attending classes at the NWS Training Center located at 7220 NW 101st Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri 64153. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price, requirements type contract for a base period of twelve months beginning October 1, 2001, and two twelve month option periods. The contractor's facility will be no more than five road miles (one way) from the NWS Training Center. The contractor shall have in-house capability to accommodate an estimated 135 students at one time and must provide free parking to the students. Each room shall have a minimum of 180 square feet excluding the bathroom, must be uniform in appearance and size and be single occupancy. The rooms shall have all modern conveniences including cable service, telephone with free local calls and a J-11 jack for computer hookup, a minimum of one double bed, either a desk or table for writing and/or studying and lighting of not less than 75 foot candle power. Each room shall have a smoke and heat detector, sprinkler system and all applicable operating permits and licenses. The students shall be provided one round trip per day from the Contractor's facility to the NWS Training Center Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Transportation vehicles must be able to provide a seat for each student. Seats will be adequate in size to accommodate a large adult. Private vehicles shall not be used to transport students. The contractor shall furnish as a minimum, scheduled shuttle service to/from a nearby mall or other large shopping and restaurant area that provides food/retail/entertainment services. A minimum of two (2) round trips shall be provided between 4:00pm and 11:00pm weekdays and a minimum of four (4) round trips between noon and midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A public restaurant shall be available on the premises or within 0/1 mile of the hotel. A commons room is required with a minimum of 200 square feet to be set aside exclusively for the use of students. The facility must have meeting rooms on the premises for special NWS meetings, large enough to accommodate groups ranging in size from 12 to 50 persons. A sanitary and mechanically maintained year round swimming pool must be available. Recreational facilities such as game rooms, tennis courts, sauna, lounge and exercise facilities must be available on site. A solicitation will be issued on or about May 31, 2001. The North American Industry Classification (NAIC) Code is 72111. Responsible concerns may request a copy of the solicitation.
