Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Invitrogen Life Technologies of Grand Island, NY on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a single source for the purchase of custom DNA and custom cells. This purchase is for the renewal materials for SRM 2391a PCR-based DNA profiling standard. Because of the nature of these materials and the desire for the DNA samples to remain consistent and retain the same genetic types, the original vendor is requested. The requested contractor is the licensed and exclusive supplier for these material. The delivery time for this requirement is 4 -6 weeks after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by May 16, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 325414 with a size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
