- This is to clarify the uniform criteria, "Mall Walk Mix", or crushed stone material, for Solicitation Number Q3400010353. They are as follows: 1. a. Sieve Analysis: 1) Sieve Size: three-quarters of an inch; Percent Passing: 100%; Specifications: 100% 2) Sieve Size: half an inch; Percent Passing: 95%; Specifications: 92-100% 3) Sieve Size: three eights of an inch; Percent Passing: 78%; Specifications: 70-85% 4) Sieve Size: #4; Percent Passing: 55%; Specifications: 48-62% 5) Sieve Size: #8; Percent Passing: 42%; Specifications: 37-49% 6) Sieve Size: #16; Percent Passing: 34%; Specifications: 28-40% 7) Sieve Size: #30; Percent Passing: 27%; Specifications: 22-32% 8) Sieve Size: #50; Percent Passing: 15%; Specifications: 10-20% 9) Sieve Size: #100; Percent Passing: 09%; Specifications: 04-14% 10) Sieve Size: #200; Percent Passing: 07%; Specifications: 04-10% AASHTO T-11 or ASTM C-117 Petrographic Analysis The term Coarse Aggregate designates aggregate retained on a #4 (4.75mm) sieve. Coarse aggregate shall be made up of Quartz/Quartzite and Quartzose. Petrograph Examination: ASTM C-295. b. Physical Characteristics of Coarse Aggregate: 1) Test: L.A. Abrasion; Results: 29% Wear; Specifications: 45% Wear Maximum 2) Test: Soundness (Sodium Sulfate); Results: 1.4% Loss; Specifications: 10% Loss Maximum 3) Test: Face Fracture; Results: 90-100%; Specifications: Minimum 1 Face 4) Test: Face Fracture; Results: 75%-100%; Specifications: Minimum 2 Face 5) Test: -#200; Results: .6%; Specifications: 1.5% Maximum 6) Test: Absorption; Results: .9%; Specifications: 1.5% Maximum c. Fine Aggregate: Natural sand, silica sand passing #4 sieve and retained on the #200 sieve free of organic matter and light in color shown by the colorimetric Test T-21, AASHTO designation, from approved source and graded as follows: d. Clay: Material with a plasticity index greater than twelve (12) and with 100% passing the 200 sieve and consistent in color. e. Mix: The prepared crushed gravel, sand, clay, and water must be thoroughly mixed in a mechanical mixer. It then must be stockpiled in such a manner to preserve the semi-slurry state necessary for compaction and congealment.
