- Description
- There will be a meeting on 5/30/01 for the Dust Suppressants Technical Panel under EPA's Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program. The primary objective of this verification is to provide independent, objective field and laboratory tests of dust suppression and soil stablization products performance and baseline environmental impacts. The test data will be reported in Verification Reports and summary Verification Statements, which will be made available to federal, state, and local highway agencies, environmental regulators, and others who may use or assess the use of these products. The evaluation will be overseen and coordinated by the Air Pollution Control Technology (APTC) Verification Center, the Environmental Technology Evaluation Center (EvTEC) and the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC). EPA's verification partner in the APCT Verification Center is Research Triangle Institute (RTI), a non-profit contract research organization. EvTEC and HITEC are two Innovation Centers within the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF), the research and technology transfer arm of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This panel is composed of representatives from the manufacturers, vendors, regulators, testing, and user communities for dust suppressants. Its purpose will be to review and comment on a draft verification test protocol. The technical panel has been selected; however, this meeting is open to all who wish to attend. The meeting will be in the Dreyfus Auditorium, Research Triangle Institute in Research Triangle Park, NC, from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM. Further information on the ETV program and travel information to RTP can be found on the Air Pollution Control Technology Verification Center web site at http://etv.rti.org/apct/index.html. Please confirm your intent to attend the meeting by calling Ms. Jenni Elion at (919) 541-6253, or by email at jme@rti.org no later than 5/25/01. The goal of ETV is to verify the performance characteristics of commercially ready environmental technologies so that potential purchasers and permitters are provided with an independent and credible assessment of the technology they are buying or permitting. RTI and EPA are partners in the ETV pilot program.
