Description
There will be a meeting on 5/31/01 for dust suppression and soil stablization vendors under EPA's Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program. The primary objective of this verification is to provide independent, objective field and laboratory tests of dust suppression and soil stabilization products performance and baseline environmental impacts. The test data will be reported in Verification Reports and summary Verification Statements, which will be made available to federal, state, and local highway agencies, environmental regulators, and others who may use or assess the use of these products. The evaluation will be overseen and coordinated by the Air Pollution Control Technology (APCT) Verification Center, the Environmental Technology Evaluation Center (EvTEC) and the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center (HITEC). APCT and EvTEC are two of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Programs. EPA's verification partner in the APCT Verification Center is Research Triangle Institute (RTI), a non-profit contract research organization. EvTEC and HITEC are two Innovation Centers within the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF), the research and technology transfer arm of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The purpose of the meeting is to: (1) identify dust suppression and soil stabilization vendor companies that are ready to participate in verification testing; (2) discuss with interested vendor companies the specifics of verification testing, including costs, scheduling, and test plans; and (3) provide an opportunity for vendors to gain insight concerning the dust suppression and soil stabilization verification testing process. If you are interested in attending, please contact Ms. Jenni Elion, RTI, by 5/25/01, at (919) 541-6253, by fax at (919) 541-6936, or email at jme@rti.org. The meeting will be held in the Dreyfus Auditorium, RTI, Research Triangle Park, NC, from 8:30 AM until noon. RTI is approximately 5 miles from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The goal of ETV is to verify the performance characteristics of commercially ready environmental technologies so that potential purchasers and permitters are provided with an independent and credible assessment of the technology they are buying or permitting. RTI and EPA are partners in the ETV pilot program. The Technical Panel for Dust Suppression will meet the day before (5/30/01) to review the Draft Generic Verification Protocol for Dust Suppression and Soil Stabilization Technologies.
