NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for items as listed below: ITEM 1: SYSTEM 5000 IS A COMPLETE HARDWARE/SOFTWARE APPROACH TO ACQUIRING AND REDUCING DATA COLLECTED FROM THE THERMAL VACUUM FACILITY, HOT-GAS FACILITY, ETC. THE SYSTEM 5000 CONSISTS OF: 1 STRAINSMART SOFTWARE PACKAGE, 1 MODEL 5101A PCMCIA INTERFACE CARD, 3 MODEL 5100 SCANNER, 2 MODEL 5110 STRAIN GAUGE CARDS, 8 MODEL 5120 THERMOCOUPLE CARDS, 4 MODEL 5130A HIGH LEVEL CARDS, 1 LAPTOP COMPUTER, 1 LASERPRINTER, 1 SDS-3 CABINET. QUANITY: 1 EACH. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Measurements Group Inc., Raliegh, NC 27611. This recommendation is made pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Due to the complexity of this item, detailed specifications concerning this requirement cannot be posted on the Internet, as there are numerous pages of specs. As stated above, the Government intends to purchase this requirement on a sole source basis to Measurements Group Inc. However, if you feel you wish to receive copy of the specs, you must respond no later than COB May 25, 2001, in order to be sent a copy. Please read additional information below concerning cutoff dates. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 25, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
