Description
The U.S. Customs Service Office of Investigations San Diego, California has a recurring requirement to obtain medical services for detainees of conducting illegal activities. The most common service requirements are in the area of detoxification from Heroin, Cocaine and Methamphetamine as well as some mental/suicidal. It is imperative that the proposed services be provided in an expeditious manner to avoid detrimental situations. Services shall include a facility capable of providing medical services 24 hours per day with qualified physicians. U.S. Customs must receive immediate service when a detainee is brought to the medical facility. Due to the need for expedient service the vendor shall be within 25 miles (one-way) from the San Ysidro borderline. In addition, the vendor must provide a designated lockdown area for confinement of each detainee and assure that this area is away from the general civilian population. The performance period of the proposed contract is a base year and four one-year options, if exercised. The maximum overall contract will not exceed $500,000. This agency intends to procure these services sole-source from: Alvarado Parkway Institute, 7050 Parkway Drive, La Mesa, CA 91942. The reason for procuring this requirement sole-source is based on market research. Market research revealed no other sources are capable of furnishing equivalent services that can meet the mission of U.S. Customs. See Numbered Note 22.
