Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, intends to award a firm fixed price contract for the Demolition of Patterson Elementary School within the District of Columbia Public Schools, Washington, DC. This procurement is 100% Small Business Set-Aside. NAICS code is 23493 replacing SIC 1629 and the size standard is $27.5 Million. Estimated cost of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The period of performance for construction of the work is estimated at 90 calendar days for from date of Notice to Proceed. The work consists of the complete demolition (razing) of the existing Patterson Elementary School located at 4355 South Capitol Street, SW. An environmental study has confirmed that asbestos, lead paint, and other hazardous materials must be removed prior to the razing as part of this contract. Further, the project includes site work to prepare the property for later construction of the new school on the same site. The contractor will be required to obtain all necessary permits, and to control the site until construction begins on the new school building. The existing school to be demolished is a 3-story building of masonry construction with a brick veneer. The total area of the building is approximately 65,200 gross square feet, on a footprint of approximately 28,400 square feet. The work includes cutting, capping and removing existing utilities; abatement of hazardous materials; and complete razing of the building. The project site is approximately 2.33 acres. Site work includes sheeting and shoring, provision of erosion control, storm water management, removal and disposal of asphalt, rough grading and provision of a new curb cut. The solicitation will be available on/about 11 June 2001 with a bid opening date on/about 11 July 2001 at 11:00 a.m. A site visit and pre-bid conference will be held on/about 29 June 2001, convening at Patterson Elementary School @ at 10:00 am. Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996, effective March 31, 1998 requires that all contractors be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) to be considered for award of a Federal contract. The solicitation will be provided in an electronic format, free of charge, to all registered plan holders. The media through which the Government chooses to issue this solicitation will be in one of the following: compact disk only, compact disk and Internet, Internet only. This solicitation will not be issued in paper. Notification in any combination of the following: fax, 3.5" floppy disk, compact disk, or posted to the Internet only. Contractors may view and/or download solicitation information from the Internet at http://ebs.nab.usace.army.mil. The Award of the contract will be made as a whole to one bidder.
