- Description
- The work includes the implementation of treee preservation practices needed to help ensure the survivability of the several trees within and around the new United States Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) to be located on Capitol Square. Designated trees on Capitol Square will receive either moderate or special tree preservation measures. All tree preservation measures will be executed according to the highest standards of the National Arborist Association and the Internatiional Society for Arboriculture. Watering, mulching, soil conditioners, root pruning, root bio-stimulation, root growth regulators, integrated pest management, and radial mulching will be required for the trees receiving tree preservation measures. The work will also include the erection of tree protection fenching and signage. Also, transplanting several small and large trees. All aspects of tree transplanting will be coordinated with the Architect. The Architect will remove trees from Capitol Square that interfere with the successful transplanting of selected trees. All of the trees that are being transplanted will receive special tree preservation measures. The contract will be awarded using competitive negotiated procedures requiring the submission of technical proposals. Award will be made considering such evaluation criteria as cost/price and and technical factors relative to past performance, management and subcontract capabilities. The solicitation will be issued on or about 20 June 2001. The date scheduled for receipt of proposal will be 9 August 2001. The solicitation will contain specific details regarding the pre-proposal/site visit conference. THIS SOLICITATION IS ISSUED ON AN "UNRESTRICTED BASIS" INVITING FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION.
