Description
This is an amendment to the CBD Notice dated 10May01. Solicitation # DTCG30-01-Q-39S057. prep and painting of the interior of Government owned housing in Sault Ste Marie, MI. in accordance with the scope of work. The following information is the area to be repaired/painted. 2 bedroom Duplexes -- (3 each) (Walls -3389 sq. ft.; Ceilings 1121 sq. ft) 3 bedroom Duplexes -- (6each) -- (Walls -- 4978 sq. ft.; Ceilings 1638 sq. ft) 3 bedroom Single -- (2 each) -- (Walls -- 3827 sq. ft.; Ceilings 1662 sq. ft) 4 bedroom Single -- (1 each) -- (Walls -- 5222 sq. ft.; Ceiling 2271 sq. ft) .4 bedroom Exec. Family-(1 each) -(Walls -- 4782 sq. ft.; Ceilings 2073 sq. ft) An On-Site Visit is required to be performed NO LATER THAN 31May01. Contact: Grant Voegeline @ (906) 632-7612 to set up a time. This solicitation closes 06Jun01. Project start date is 11Jun01 and completion date is 15Sep01. USCG GROUP SAULT STE MARIE HOUSING INTERIOR PAINTING SPECIFICATIONS PART 1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION 1.1 The coast guard requires a contractor fully qualified within the field of painting to provide all labor, materials and equipment necessary to prepare, prime where needed, and paint all interior surfaces of the U.S. Coast Guard owned housing units located at Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. PART 2 SCHEDULING 2.1 Painting will be conducted between the hours of 7:30a.m. through 4:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. 2.2 Housing anticipates annual 15-20 houses being painted between 06/01 through 09/30/01. PART 3 SURFACE PREPARATION 3.1 All interior surfaces other than oak doors, cabinets and railings shall be properly prepared (i.e. cleaned, sanded, feathered, puttied, primed) as necessary. 3.2 All surfaces preparation shall include the repair of damages (i.e. splits, cracks, nail holes, ships, indentations, and holes less than six inches in diameter) to walls. Fill, sand, and smooth all damaged areas with wall mud as applicable. 3.3 All surfaces shall be free of dirt, grease, and any foreign matter that would adversely affect the finished appearance. 3.4 Areas damaged by mold pr mildew shall be treated with high quality commercial fungus filler, rinsed, allowed to dry and covered with one coat primer and minimum of two coats of appropriate paint. PART 4 PROTECTION OR ADJACENT SURFACES 4.1 Surfaces not to be painted (heat detectors, light fixtures, door hardware, paneling, cabinets, ceramic tile and carpeted areas, window panes, etc.) shall be protected from paint splatter by use of drop cloths, masking tape, removal or other appropriate means. The contractor at the contractor's expense shall correct any damaged resulting from the neglect of this provision. 4.2 Hardware, accessories, plates, lighting fixtures, and similar items removed to provide protection from paint shall be carefully stored, cleaned and replaced on completion of work in each area. Do not use solvent to clean hardware that may remove permanent lacquer finish. PART 5 MATERIALS 5.1 Government furnished materials: The Coast Guard will not provide any materials. 5.2 Contractor Supplied Materials: The contractor shall provide all materials necessary for completion of the job, including, but not limited to paints, sealant, stains, putties, caulking, dry wall, wall board mud, tools, brushes, rollers, drop cloths, and cleaning products for over-spray and drippings. The paint used shall be equal to or greater than: SHERMAN WILLIAMS BRAND: B20-W251 Egg-shell China White for all interior surfaces (with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom). The kitchen & bathroom paint used shall be equal to or greater than SHERMAN WILLIAMS BRAND: B31-W251 SEMI-GLOSS. PART 6 APPLICATION 6.1 Painting shall consist of the appropriate number of coat to obtain complete wall covering. AS A MINIMUM, one coat shall be applied throughout the housing unit interior, which includes but is not limited to all previously painted interior surfaces such as walls and ceilings of all rooms, and the trim around doors, windows, stairways, and radiators. Paint shall be applied carefully, with good clean brushes, rollers or airless spray to produce a smooth finish free of runs or other defects. PART 7 CLEAN UP 7.1 The contractor shall ensure units worked on are left in a clean and orderly condition with all paint spots, rags, and empty containers or debris removed and disposed of in accordance with EPA regulations. 7.2 Upon completion the Coast guard contracting representative will inspect all work and repairs. Any defects, sags or runs in the painted surface will be repaired prior to approval of job. 7.3 Replace all hardware, electric, and plumbing accessories removed during painting. 7.4 The entire area of all surfaces shall be left cleaned and in workable condition (i.e. no windows painted shut). PART 8 CONTRACTOR PRERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS 8.1 All work shall be accomplished in a professional manner and in strict adherence to current manufacturers standards and recommendations. 8.2 Contractor shall adhere to current codes, ordinances and OSHA safety regulations at all times. PART 9 QUALITY ASSURANCE 9.1 Any work that does not meet the approval of the U. S. Coast Guard contracting representative shall be immediately corrected. Unsatisfactory work shall be redone at contractor expense. PART 10 LIABILITY INSURANCE 10.1 It is the responsibility of the contractor to provide their own liability insurance for contractor and employees. In no case will the Coast Guard assume liability for bodily injury to the contractor and/or employees.
