Description
DESCRIPTION The National Institute of Standards and Technology = (NIST), intends to negotiate on a sole source basis using simplified = acquisition procedures, under the authority of the test program for = certain commercial items cited in FAR Surpart 13.5, Test Program for = Certain Commercial Items with Excelon Corporation, 8044 Montgomery = Road, Suite 700, Cincinnati, OH 45236 under authority of FAR = 13.106-1(b)(1) for a Javlin Enterprise Test Server for NT, Product No. = SW-JV-NT9-ETT, Javlin License, Product No. SW-JV-NT9-DEV, and Standard = Maintenance, Product No. MN-ST for a base year and four option years in = accordance to the following specifications: a) The server shall provide = a middle-tier EJB Data Cache Manager, which adds high performance data = scalability, middle-tier distributed caching and persistence to any EJB = application server. b) The server shall provide a tight integration = with the BEA WebLogic App Server for Container Managed Persistence and = ships with a container that works specifically with WebLogic. The = server shall provided Container Managed Persistence for developers = without requiring developers to write any database specific code. The = system shall provide full support for Bean Managed Persistence. Other = unique characteristics are as follows: 1) Javlin uniquely leverages = Excelon Corporation's patented Cache-Forward to provide true = distributed, transactional consistent, persistent caches across = multiple app servers. 2) The Javlin architecture swaps EJB objects = into the App Server VM as they are needed by executing transactions and = makes them available to subsequent transactions at in-memory speeds = while transparently maintaining cache coherency across multiple app = servers to eliminate database access bottlenecks found in relational = based architectures. 3) The server shall allow declarative runtime = configuration of caches and cache pools so that systems can be tuned at = runtime based upon changing user patterns without having to rewrite = code. The server must have the ability to map any number of caches to = any number of WebLogic servers, applications can be scaled to arbitrary = sizes. 4) Javlin uniquely persist data as native Javelin objects and = completely eliminates. 5) The server shall provide fault tolerant = features whereby persistent caches can be replicated to additional = servers or kept available 24X7 through a failover configuration. 6) = The server shall provide the ability to synchronize caches = bi-directionally with external data sources via its Data Source = Synchronization (DSS) framework, which is an open framework of Javelin = classes that can be tailored to any EJB model and any database or = legacy application. This facility lets a WebLogic application provide = true dynamic caching of EGBs that cannot become out of date with an = external data source. The period of performance is base year and four = options years. Required Delivery 30 ARO; The Contractor shall provide = operational manuals. The Contractor shall meet all the specifications = stated herein. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive = quotations. However, all quotations received by June 8, 2001 will be = considered by the Government. Information received will be considered = solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive = procurement. The anticipated award date of the contract is on or around = June 11, 2001. If you have any questions regarding this announcement, = please contact Brenda K. Lee at the telephone number identified below.=20
