Description

The U.S. Agency for International Development, Africa Bureau Of Sustainable Development(AFR/SD)proposes to: (1) improve the supply of economically viable, sustainably produced, superior quality natural plant products to local, regional and overseas markets; (2) develop a network of African growers, environmentalists, researchers, processors and distributors and exporters of natural plant products;(3)facilitate inter-African and African-American information systems in the natural product subsectors; (4) strengthen and enhance the natural products subsector, and its capacity to contribute to economic growth among rural entrepreneurs; and (5) to encourage the sustainable collection and production of both indigenous and introduced natural plant products. USAID anticipates only awarding one Grant estimated to be $200,000 per year and cover a period of 5 years. While for-profit firms may submit applications, it is USAID's policy not to award fees/profits under assistance instruments. The preferred method of distribution of USAID procurement information is via the Internet or by request of a solicitation. This CBD notice can be viewed and downloaded using the Agency Web Site. The request for proposal, once issued, can also be downloaded from the Agency web site. The Worldwide Web address is http://www.info.usaid.gov.
