Description
The National Park Service intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with J.R. Burrows & Company, 393 Union St., Rockland, Massachusetts to provide a Wilton velvet/cut-pile carpet for installation in the historically furnished exhibit rooms at the Melrose mansion, located in Natchez, Mississippi, at Natchez National Historical Park. The carpet under consideration comes from Burrows' Stourvale Mill Collection and will be 1134 square feet (168 linear yards by 27" wide) in size. Melrose mansion was constructed in the early 1840's and installation of the carpet is part of a Park Service plan to return the interior of the house to its pre-1865 appearance. Research by National Park Service staff has led to the conclusion that Burrows is the only carpet company in the United States commercially producing documented historic carpet patterns from the mid-19th century. However, interested business concerns who believe they can perform this service are requested to submit their qualifications and a capability statement. These must include: 1) credentials that show there qualifications to perform; 2) a listing of similar projects performed; and 3) a list of at least three customers (including telephone numbers and points of contact) who can verify the information submitted. Capability statements must be submitted to the Contracting Officer listed in this announcement no later than June 15, 2001. Capability statements may be mailed to the address indicated, emailed to the link shown, or faxed to (662) 680-4033. This is the only notice that will appear in the CBD. Absent any suitable response to this notice, the National Park Service will proceed with this acquisition under the procedures at FAR 13.106-1(b) (simplified acquisition procedures). This action is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6 and this announcement is being published in compliance with the requirements of FAR 5.207(c)(2)(xiv).
