Description

Strategic Systems Programs is conducting a competition to insert a Strategic Programs Alteration (SPALT) into the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) of the MK6 Guidance System of the TRIDENT II (D5) missile. The planned procurement quantity is 48 SPALTed units during FY02, with an option for up to an additional 12 SPALTed units; options for FY03 and FY04 of 84 SPALTed units during each year and additional option quantities of up to 36 SPALTed units during each option year. Performance will require knowledge and experience in guidance system handling, processing and test and access to a facility capable of meeting the environmental test levels specified in Weapons Specification (WS) 22630, Volumes 1 and 2. The contractor shall supply environmental test equipment with specified safety interlocks with the capability of vibrating a MK6 IMU weighing approximately 120 pounds, plus fixturing, over a frequency range of 20-2000 Hz and a centrifuge capable of accelerating an IMU, plus fixturing, to a level of 15 +/- 0.3 g's. The facility must be capable of supplying chilled water at the specified flow rate and temperature, as well as specified electrical signals through slip rings, to the IMU during the environmental test period. The centrifuge shall have a provision for securely holding a MK6 Electronics Assembly (EA) near the center of the rotation during centrifuge testing to minimize acceleration levels to the EA. The solicitation will be posted on the Navy Electronic Commerce OnLine (NECO) Web Page http://www.neco.navy.mil on or about 28 June 2001 with responses due 2 August 2001 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. A draft solicitation will be available on NECO on or about 5 June 2001. No proposal should be submitted as a result of this DRFP. Offerors are invited to comment on this DRFP including requirements, schedules, proposal instructions, and evaluation approach. Comments should be provided by 19 June 2001.
