- Description
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Waterways Experiment Station (WES) has a requirement for voice, video, and data communications infrastructure and telephone operator support. This includes furnishing all telephone switchboard operators and communications services support for the internal voice, video and data communications networks, which operate over fiber-optic and copper cabling infrastructure on the 700+ acre United States Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station, located at 3909 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg MS. All work performed by the contractor will meet or exceed the standards of the BICSI and NARFAC, EIA/TIA, and FM-486-2. The contractor must be able to obtain a facility security clearance, and contractor employees must be able to obtain a secret clearance. Switchboard operators service will include, but will not be limited to receiving in-coming calls, providing switchboard services to Corps and staff, accepting complaints, recording information regarding malfunctions and gathering workload data as prescribed by the Government. Support services includes, but is not limited to, preventive and remedial (including emergency) maintenance of the copper/fiber-optic cabling at WES, rearrangement/changes of communications services, and installation of all new communications services not installed by the government. Typical tasks will include complete rewiring of an existing building, or rewiring existing outside plant wiring; installation and testing of network wiring in existing buildings or new construction building (may include Category 5 copper wiring, single and multimode fiber); installation and testing of video cabling and wiring in existing and new construction buildings; installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of special circuits and circuit conditioning equipment required to support data circuits, special circuits and trunking equipment; provide demand maintenance/repair to correct customer generated trouble calls located within the Private Branch Exchange (PBX) during normal duty hours; provide installation of Electronic Programmable Auxiliary Branch Exchange (EPABX) system or Electronic Key System (EKS) during normal duty hours (to include installation of all hardware, cabinets, internal boards or cards, all cabling, power supply, power connections, and grounding; power connections and entering of any required class of service and feature programming; performing system routine and diagnostic checks to assure system is fully operational; completion of all required reports and record changes); installation and termination of all interface jacks, cross connects, building entrance cable, in-house cabling, and data/coaxial cable necessary to make operational all special circuits and ancillary equipment (this action includes provision of dial tone to a jack, installation of modems, line filters, circuit conditioning equipment, data terminals and associated equipment, special circuits, balancing networks and line amplifiers); and provide aerial, underground, and buried installation and removal of communications cable (fiber, coaxial, etc.) (including all trenching and backfilling and excavation of asphalt and concrete roadways or sidewalks).
