- Description
- The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)/Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) intends to acquire the following requirement via GSA Schedule or other existing contract vehicles. This Sources Sought announcement will close mid-June upon the issuance of the solicitation. The DISA Western Hemisphere (WESTHEM) is planning to acquire Storage-On-Demand Services (SODS) via the utility (service) concept, only. The storage is required for both mainframe (O/S 390) and mid-tier. The storage devices/equipment must be physically located on the raised floor in DISA's computer rooms and DISA will only pay for the storage actually used in the terms of megabytes (MB)/gigabytes (GB)/terabytes (TB). The data storage capacity available for DISA WESTHEM use must have the ability to increase or decrease quickly. The following is additional information relative to DISA future storage requirements: (1) Type 3, Just a Bunch of Disks (JBOD), does not require recovery or Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID). This type of storage accounts for a low percentage of DISA's needs; (2) Type 2, Disk Storage, requires local mirroring, RAID, priority queuing, etc. and accounts for a majority of DISA's needs; (3) Type 1 storage will be used for multi-site remote mirroring and it will be used for assured computing. It is anticipated a separate enterprise-wide contract will be awarded for this type of storage. A usage-based acquisition for Type 2, O/S 390 storage is anticipated very soon. This initial acquisition will encompass requirements for both DECC Mechanicsburg and DECC Columbus including anticipated expansions/contractions from an initial need of 7.9TB growing to a projected 21.3TB over the next three years. Procedurally DISA, through DITCO, seeks to fulfill requirements by competition among GSA Schedule or other existing contract vehicles' offerings. DISA encourages all storage vendors to add complete pricing and terms and conditions for usage-based storage to their GSA Schedule or other existing contract vehicles. Requirements will be structured in order to accommodate storage needs anticipated for 36 months following award. All orders will be structured to accommodate transient and permanent change (increases and decreases) in storage requirements. Storage Area Network (SAN) technology may be required on some mid-tier open systems related storage acquisitions. DISA and the contractor will share the data monitoring and management functions. Data integrity and back up will remain DISA's responsibility. Technical refresh must be included. For additional information on DISA's SODS requirement, contact David Sloan at 703-681-2266 or e-mail him at SloanD@ncr.disa.mil. To be added to the source list for the above requirement, contact Anita R. Middleton via e-mail at middleta@scott.disa.mil.
