Description

This solicitation is to secure services to improve forest health, reduce fuel loading, reduce road density, and improve 6.8 miles of existing road while protecting the soil resource on approximately 903 acres in 40 stands. Work includes but is not limited to: felling of green timber which has been marked with blue paint by the Forest Service, and ranges in size from 5" to 20.9" dbh, pre-commercial and release thinning on 115 acres, utilization of a logging system and/or technique which minimizes exposure to detrimental soil impacts, closing approximately 20 miles of road, slash disposal, log haul, reconstruction of 6.8 miles of existing road, excavating the existing Wade Pit, crushing approximately 180 cubic yards of rock to 6 inches or less in diameter, and erosion control work if necessary. The Contractor shall develop a plan to accomplish the objectives, organize and direct all of the equipment and personnel needed to accomplish the work. Contractor shall furnish all technical expertise, labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies and incidentals to perform all work necessary. The project area is located approximately 24 miles north of Enterprise, Oregon on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The estimated start work date is September 1, 2001.
