THIS PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE AND ISSUED FOR INFORMATION ONLY. DO NOT REQUEST SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS. THE CBD NOTICE WILL HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION FOR REQUESTING THE SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS AND WILL BE ISSUED ON OR ABOUT 7/16/01. THIS SOLICITATION IS SET-ASIDE FOR THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (SBA) PROGRAM UNDER SECTION 8(a) RESTRICTED ONLY TO ELIGIBLE 8(a) CONTRACTORS LOCATED IN THE PORTFOLIO OF THE SBA/CHICAGO DISTRICT OFFICE, ILLINOIS. This solicitation will be competed amongst eligible Section 8(a) firms certified for participation in the 8(a) program, which have NAICS Code 235410 among their approved NAICS codes. The Government intends on issuing the solicitation through the use of the Internet web address. The solicitation package will be available on or about 8/2/01. The solicitation package will be available for viewing and downloading at internet web address http://www.esol.navfac.navy.mil. A Pre-Proposal Conference will be on or about 8/16/01 at 9:00 a.m. Complete information on the pre-proposal conference will be included in the solicitation. This project is for the repair of terra cotta on Buildings 3 & 4 at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. The work requires a contractor with past experience in terra cotta repairs. This work a glazed clay product requiring specialized experience, handling and installation and custom piecework. The work will require installing the new terra cotta units next to existing units. The contractor will be required to apply finishes, colors, and stains to match textures, colors and shades of existing units. Terra cotta installers have specialists that stain texture and refinish terra cotta to match existing terra cotta units. This project is based on 100% designed plans and specification. The NAICS Code is 235410, Masonry and Stone Contractors; Old SIC Code 1741; size standard is $11.5 million; the FSC Code is Z199. Prime contractors will be required to perform at least 25% of the work with their own organization. The estimated cost range is between $1,200,000.00 to $1,400,000.00. All prospective offerors and plan rooms MUST register themselves on the web site. The OFFICIAL PLANHOLDERS LIST will be created by registration and will be available from the web site ONLY. Amendments will also be posted on the web site for downloading. This will normally be the method of distributing amendments; therefore, IT IS THE OFFEROR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK THE WEB SITE PERIODICALLY FOR ANY AMENDMENTS TO THIS SOLICITATION. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Effective 5/31/1998, all contractors submitting bids, proposals or quotes on DOD solicitations must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) prior to award of the contract.
