THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR ELECTRON BEAM WELDING/FABRICATION SYSTEM. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to Answer Questions to above referenced Solicitation. QUESTION: Concerning the recent Amendment 1, further clarification is needed on the above solicitation. 1. Paragraph 2.1 Is the .005 "inch minimum diameter of the beam a requirement over the full range of gun power? ANSWER: Yes. QUESTION: 2.Are you (NASA/LaRC) anticipating a requirement to project the welding beam through "slots" into a weld joint inches below the "slot"? If so how many inches below the upper slot will the weld joint be located? ANSWER: No. QUESTION: 3. Tilt/Rotate Positioning Table What are the maximum part dimensions of the workpieces which will be fixtured to the faceplate? ANSWER: Maximum weight on the table will be 1,000 pounds. Maximum dimensions are 30 inches in X, Y, and Z for full tilt and rotate capabilities. The ability to accommodate larger parts will be considered added value. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on or before June 12, 2001. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office 97 format and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
