- DESCRIPTION: The National Institute of Standards and Technology = (NIST) plans to issue a competitive solicitation for the purpose of = making multiple awards of research proposals to investigate computer = network security issues applicable to integrated building automation & = control systems using ANSI/ASHRAE Std. 135-1995 (BACnet). Integrated = building automation systems include the integration within a single = building of HVAC, lighting, fire detection, vertical transport, and = access control systems; the interconnection of these systems in = separate buildings; and interactions between buildings and outside = utility and other service providers. The proposed research is expected = to be a preliminary step that will eventually lead to development of = industry standards and best practice guidelines. The period of = performance is one year from date of award. The competitive = solicitation, solicitation amendments, and all questions and answers = related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at = http://www.fedbizops.gov/. The solicitation, SB1341- 01-Q-0816, is = anticipated for release to the vendor community on or about June 8, = 2001 and will only be available via the Internet at the above web site. = Potential offerors are responsible for accessing the web site. = Interested parties must respond to the solicitation in order to be = considered for award of any resultant contract. There is no written = solicitation document available, telephone requests will not be = honored, and no bidders list will be maintained.
